Our Canes made for Vets

     On March 17, 2009, and April 7, 2009, Our club presented canes to 38 deserving Veterens, as well as a certificate acknowledging their service to our country.  Many of the honorees were Purple Heart recipients and their canes were anointed with a Purple Heart decoration.  All of the canes had a brass plaque thanking them for their service. 

     An honor guard was provided by the American Legion Post 318 and after the ceremony a light lunch was provided to the honorees.  Two canes were given to the Honor Guard to be auctioned off in the near future.

     All of the Veterens were appreciative of the efforts of the members who spent so much time to create a hand carved cane. 

     We have Approximatelly eight canes remaining plus two or three that are still in progress.  What to do with the remaining canes will have to be decided at a membership meeting.
