The above photo is of Leon Banister and his son Colonel Tracy Banister. Colonel Tracy visited our club on Tuesday January 5, 2010. He spoke about the Army of the 21st Century, and how they are transforming the force in order to best serve the country in this time of persistent conflict. His presentation included:
1. Soldier and Family Programs,
2. How the Army is preparing soldiers to best fight the global war on extremism.
3. How the Army is reshaping its organizational structure
4.How the Army is equipping for the future.
Additionallly there was a 20 minute Q and A that covered force construct, soldier and family care issues, the war in Iraq and Afgahanistan.
He is attending the United States Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA, The U.S. Army War College (USAWC) is the Army's ultimate professional development institution that prepares selected military, civilian, and international leaders for the responsibilities of strategic leadership in a joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational enviornment. Tracy is one of 300 students selected to attend the school - in the end he will receive a Masters Degree in Strategic Studies.
